SunEnergy1 affiliate seeks approval for 40-MW solar project in North Carolina

Wildwood Solar LLC, an affiliate of SunEnergy1 LLC, applied March 18 at the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 40-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Currituck County.

The facility will be located between Ferrell Mill Road to the east, Oxford Road to the west and Ranchland Drive to the north in Moyock, North Carolina. It is projected to come online in phases with the complete system online by Dec. 31 , 2015.

The application said the company is in discussions to sell the output through a negotiated Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to Dominion North Carolina Power or to one or more retail customers in deregulated states that allow for such sales, or to sell the output in the PJM Interconnection market. Wildwood Solar has submitted an interconnection request to PJM pursuant to PJM’s Open Access Transmission Tariff and has executed a Generation Interconnection Feasibility Study Agreement with PJM.

The projected annual sales of the facility are 99,498,449 kWh. It is a single-axis tracking, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic system consisting of approximately 183,607 solar PV modules and will utilize twenty-eight 1.56-MW inverters dialed down to 1.428 MW each.
