O2 EMC affiliate seeks North Carolina okay on 20-MW solar project

North 301 Solar LLC applied March 30 at the North Carolinas Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 20-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Halifax County, N.C.

It will be located on US-301N at Enfield, N.C. The project will interconnect to the existing Virginia Electric and Power d/b/a Dominion North Carolina Power transmission system.

The projected date on which the facility will come on line is Dec. 31, 2016. The applicant will sell into the PJM Interconnection network under a power purchase agreement. The projected year one annual sales of this $56 million facility are 38.4 million kWh.
