Mix of precipitation forecast for much of East, South

Heavy rain is possible Lower Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Snow is forecast from parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley/Tennessee Valley to the Mid-Atlantic/Southern New England. Meanwhile rain/freezing rain and sleet may develop from parts of the Southern Plains to the Southern Mid-Atlantic.

Temperatures will be 15 to 35 degrees below average for the Upper Midwest to the Southern Plains/Middle Mississippi Valley. Snow will develop over parts of the Central Rockies/Central Plains will expand into the Ohio Valley/Northern Appalachians by Wednesday evening.

The snow will become moderate over parts of the Ohio Valley on Wednesday evening that will move into parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic by Thursday morning and off the Mid-Atlantic Coast by Thursday evening.
