Developer seeks North Carolina approvals for solar projects

Several related companies filed applications on March 30 with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for certificates of public convenience and necessity on solar projects ranging in size up to 10 MW (ac).

The applications are from:

  • Wilson Solar Farm 3 LLC for a 10 (MW) (ac) solar facility to be located at 5100 Bloomery Road, on the east side of Bloomery Road north of Packhouse Road in Wilson County. The facility is projected to come on line on or before Dec. 31, 2015. The applicant said it will sell power generated to ElectriCities/North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency (NCEMPA) under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The projected annual sales are 19,800,000 kWh.
  • Wilson Solar Farm 7 LLC for a facility that will be located at 2109 Downing Street in the City of Wilson, Wilson County. The application at different points gives a capacity of both 5 MW (ac) and 10 MW (ac), though the projected annual sales of 9,900,000 kWh probably indicate a 5-MW project. The facility is projected to come on line on or before Dec. 31, 2015.  The company said will sell power generated by the facility to ElectriCities/NCEMPA under a PPA.
  • Wilson Solar Farm 6 LLC plans a 10-MW (ac) facility located at 2109 Downing Street in the City of Wilson, Wilson County. The facility is projected to come on line on or before Dec. 31, 2015. The applicant will sell power generated to ElectriCities/NCEMPA under a PPA. The projected annual sales are 19,800,000 kWh.
  • Wilson Solar Farm 5 LLC plans a 10-MW (ac) project located at 2109 Downing Street in the City of Wilson, Wilson County. Maps in the applications show multiple projects at this same address. The facility is projected to come on line on or before Dec. 31, 2015. The applicant will sell power generated to ElectriCities/NCEMPA under a PPA. The projected annual sales are 19,800,000 kWh.
  • Wilson Solar Farm 4 LLC plans a 10-MW (ac) facility also located at 2109 Downing Street in the City of Wilson, Wilson County. It is projected to come on line on or before Dec. 31, 2015. The applicant will sell power generated to ElectriCities/NCEMPA under a PPA. The projected annual sales are 19,800,000 kWh.

The project contact information in all cases is: 133 Strawberry Lane, Saint Johns, Florida 32259, Attn: Gerrald F. Guthmiller, Phone (904) 460-2001, jerry@jsgsolar.com.
