Colder temperatures return to the Central and Eastern states

A strong cold front is forecast to reach the East Coast by Friday morning, dropping temperatures on the order of 15 to 30 degrees by Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Some lingering showers will be possible behind the front, and snow showers are possible across parts of the Great Lakes and the Northeast on Friday. But tonight, heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms are expected for the Gulf Coast and Florida.
