Southern works out interconnect for 44-MW biomass project in Georgia

Southern Company Services, as agent for Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power and Mississippi Power, filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Feb. 20 an executed Large Generator Interconnection Agreement with Albany Green Energy LLC for a 44-MW, biomass-fired project in Georgia.

The generating facility, located in Dougherty County, Ga., is to consist of a biomass-fired boiler and a condensing steam turbine cogenerator, with a nominal net summer (95°) capacity of 44 MW at the Point of Interconnection. Under this agreement, the in-service target date is Aug. 1, 2016, the initial synchronization date is Dec. 1, 2016, and the commercial operation date is Feb. 1, 2017.
