Flatwoods Solar seeks approval of 5-MW project in North Carolina

Flatwoods Solar LLC on Feb. 5 applied to the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 4.998-MW (ac) solar facility to be located in Harnett County, N.C.

The facility will be located on the west side of NC 210 S Hwy, 0.6 miles south of the Joel Johnson Rd and NC 210 S Hwy intersection, at Lillington in Harnett County. It will consist of approximately 21,660 300Wp PV modules (or equivalent) affixed to ground mounted racks supported on driven piles.

The $13m facility is projected to come online in December 2015. Electricity generated will be sold to Duke Energy Progress under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
