Storm in Gulf brings rain to Southeast and wintry mix from Tenn. Valley to mid-Atlantic

A storm system in the northern Gulf of Mexico will spread moisture northward into the Deep South and Southeast States on Friday bringing locally heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

On the northern edge of the system, a wintry mix of snow and sleet is possible from the Tennessee Valley through the southern/central Appalachians into the mid-Atlantic states.
