House to vote on bill to speed up gas pipeline permitting

January 21, 2015

The House today will vote on an important bill to increase and upgrade the nation’s energy infrastructure. Introduced by Energy and Commerce Committee member Mike Pompeo (R-KS), H.R. 161, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, will help facilitate the timely construction of new natural gas pipelines that are sorely needed to deliver affordable American energy to homes and businesses across the country.

This is just one of several bipartisan jobs and energy infrastructure solutions championed by House Republicans. The House recently approved legislation to build the Keystone XL pipeline and will consider a measure next week to expedite the construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) joined Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) in calling for the president’s support of these commonsense energy solutions in The Hill. They write, “If the president puts down his veto pen and joins us, America will have an even brighter energy future.”
