Duke Energy Indiana seeks approval for 20 MW of solar project contracts

Duke Energy Indiana on Dec. 29 asked the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to approve four solar Purchased Power Agreements (PPAs) for 5 MW each.

The PPAs are with Sullivan Solar LLC, McDonald Solar LLC, Pastime Farm LLC, and Geres Energy LLC, with each of these projects to be in commercial operation no later than March 31, 2016. The four solar project sites are within Duke Energy Indiana’s service territory in Sullivan County, Vigo County, Clay County and Howard County.

The utility also requested that the commission approve its modification to its GoGreen program under the Alternative Regulatory Statute to provide customers with an option to purchase locally sourced green power renewable energy credits (RECs). Duke Energy Indiana seeks approval to offer a new component to its GoGreen program to allow customers to purchase, for a premium, solar RECs resulting from projects located within Duke Energy Indiana’s service territory as opposed to out-of-state RECs.
