DeCordova II Power permits combined-cycle uprate for Texas power plant

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said in a Jan. 6 notice that DeCordova II Power Co. LLC has applied for an air permit covering a power plant uprate project.

Said the notice, without providing further details on the project: “DeCordova II Power Company LLC, has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for issuance of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) Air Quality Permit Number GHGPSDTX124, which would authorize modification to add Combined Cycle optionality for the Simple Cycle Combustion Turbine Units 5 & 6 located at 4950 Power Plant Court, Granbury, Hood County, Texas 76048.”

More details will become available as the Dec. 19 application moves through the TCEQ review process.

The company contact information in the notice is: DeCordova II Power Co. LLC, 1601 Bryan Street, Dallas, Texas 75201-3430, Paul Coon, Air Permitting Manager, Environmental Services, (214) 875-8376.

That is contact information for the Luminant power generating unit of Energy Future Holdings. Luminant, which like its parent is in chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, has lately been permitting new gas-fired capacity additions at several locations in case power market conditions justify it. DeCordova II Power is one of the many Energy Future affiliates currently in chapter 11.
