Sunstone Energy seeks approval for 5-MW solar project in N.C.

Sunstone Energy LLC applied Dec. 29 to the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing construction of a 5-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility to be located in Scotland County.

The address for the Johnson Farm project is 22283 Bunch Road, Laurel Hill, Scotland County. Electricity generated by the facility will be sold to Duke Energy under a 30-year power purchase agreement subject to the rate schedule CSP-29(NC), said the application. The project is expected online in July 2015.
