PSEG readies Newman Solar project in Texas for operation

Newman Solar LLC on Dec. 1 filed with the Texas Public Utility Commission a registration statement for a 10.53-MW (ac) solar project that is due for commercial operation on Dec. 19.

PSEG Solar Source had announced July 2 that it would acquire a 13-MW (dc) solar facility near El Paso, Texas, from juwi solar Inc. (JSI). The project has a 30-year power purchase agreement with El Paso Electric. The plant, to be called the PSEG El Paso Solar Energy Center, is located 14 miles north of El Paso, adjacent to El Paso Electric’s existing Newman Generating Station. The registration statement filed with the Texas commission has a map showing the subject project as being at the existing Newman plant.
