TVA President and CEO Bill Johnson on Dec. 11 named Ricardo “Ric” Perez as the Tennessee Valley Authority’s senior vice president for Shared Services, responsible for Supply Chain & Facilities, Natural Resources & Real Property Services, Information Technology and TVA Police & Emergency Management.
Perez, who most recently served as TVA’s senior vice president for Nuclear Operations Support, joined TVA after 30 years at Westinghouse Electric Company, including three years as president and Chief Operating Officer.
“Ric is recognized throughout the industry as a strong leader with extensive experience over a broad range of management areas,” said Johnson. “We are pleased to have him at the helm of our Shared Services organization as we continue to provide low-cost, reliable power; manage our natural resources, and help create jobs across the Valley.”
As President and COO at Westinghouse, Perez headed the company’s global facilities, delivery resources and major product areas. He led most of the company’s 14,000 employees, six regulated facilities and numerous manufacturing and engineering centers before retiring in 2012. In his operational leadership roles, he made significant improvements in industrial safety, operational exposure and quality performance.
Perez holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Florida and a master’s in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the University of Florida Nuclear Engineering Advisory Council.
