FERC delayed a bit on review for Puerto Rico LNG project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Dec. 12 issued a revised schedule for the completion of the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for Aguirre Offshore GasPort LLC’s Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project.

This liquefied natural gas import project would support a planned switch from oil to natural as fuel for much of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority‘s adjacent Aguirre power plant.

The original notice of schedule, issued on May 2, 2014, identified Dec. 19, 2014, as the final EIS issuance date. On Dec. 3, 2014, commission staff received additional information from Aguirre regarding the proposed subsea pipeline from the LNG terminal to the power plant, and Aguirre will file forthcoming information in response to a staff data request. Review of this information and incorporation into the final EIS requires a revised schedule for issuance of the final EIS.

The issuance of the Notice of Availability of the final EIS is now due on Feb. 20, 2015, with the 90-day Federal Authorization Decision deadline being May 21, 2015. If a further schedule change becomes necessary, an additional notice will be provided so that the relevant agencies are kept informed of the project’s progress.
