Littleton Phipps Solar seeks N.C. approval on 20-MW project

Littleton Phipps Solar LLC on Aug. 4 applied for a Certificate of Public Necessity and Convenience at the North Carolina Utilities Commission on a 20-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic project.

This project would be located on Hwy 158 at Littleton in Halifax County, North Carolina. The facility is a single N-S axis tracking ground-mount solar photovoltaic system consisting of approximately 91,803 PV modules.

The estimated cost of the project is approximately $48m. The facility is to be energized in phases as available with the complete system on line by Dec. 31, 2015. The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Virginia Electric and Power d/b/a Dominion North Carolina Power under a Power Purchase Agreement.
