Taylor Processing cleared for 15-MW project in Alberta

Taylor Processing Inc. was approved on July 17 by the Alberta Utilities Commission to construct and operate a 15-MW power plant in the Didsbury area and to connect the power plant to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES).

This will be a natural gas-fired cogeneration power plant built at Taylor’s existing Harmattan Gas plant, located approximately 20 kilometers west of Didsbury. The gas plant has two existing 15-MW natural gas-fired units on site. Taylor said the proposed power plant is required to meet the additional demand associated with the installation of two new compressors at the gas plant.

Taylor proposed to connect the power plant to the AIES via FortisAlberta Inc.’s 25-kV distribution system.
