The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma expects a slight risk of severe weather on Wednesday in the central Plains.
The area of greatest concern is in eastern Colorado, western Kansas and southwest Nebraska. The main threat with these storms will be damaging winds and hail.
The NWS Climate Prediction Center in Maryland has also issued its summary of forecasts and hazards for July 11 through July 22.
High pressure is predicted to move from the Great Lakes off the East Coast at the beginning of this period, bringing pleasant and dry conditions to these parts of the country. The monsoon is expected to start during this Outlook period, which is close to its climatological start. Above normal temperatures are predicted for most of the western states with below normal temperatures favored for the east.
