Severe weather and flash flooding possible along the East Coast; portions of the Rockies

Severe weather is possible on Tuesday across the Mid-Atlantic and across parts of the central Rockies and Front Range. Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats but tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

In addition, heavy rainfall is possible from the Mid-Atlantic into New England as well as the southern and central Rockies and adjacent Plains leading to flash flood potential, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

With cooler weather moving into the Midwest, Chicago is only expected to see a high of 67 degrees F today. Salt Lake City should experience a high of 97 degrees.
