Haley Barnes Investments seeks N.C. solar project approval

Filing an application on July 21 with the North Carolina Utilities Commission for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on a solar project was Haley Barnes Investments Inc.

The generating facility will consist of a 4.99-MW photovoltaic array. The project location is 1603 Merritt Road, Whiteville, N.C. The project cost estimate is S10.8m. This photovoltaic PV system is projected to come on line in November 2015.

The applicant plans to sell the electricity to Progress Energy Carolinas under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement subject to the rate schedule CSP-25 (NC) Cogeneration and Small Power Producer. The projected year-one-annual sales of this facility are projected to be 8,900,000 kWh.
