Fresh Air Energy II wins approval for 20-MW solar project

The North Carolina Utilities Commission on June 30 approved a June 2013 application from Fresh Air Energy II LLC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity on a 19.99-MW (ac) solar photovoltaic facility to be located at 500 American Legion Road in Roanoke Rapids in Halifax County, N.C.

The company plans to sell the electricity to Virginia Electric and Power d/b/a Dominion North Carolina Power. The estimated annual kilowatt hour sales for this facility are 30,400,000 kWh. An August 2013 application amendment said this project was due for operation by the end of 2014.
