FERC approves rate authority for NextEra solar project in Nevada

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Nov. 27 accepted an Oct. 3 application by Mountain View Solar LLC for market-based rate authority related to a 20-MW solar project in Nevada.

Mountain View Solar will own and operate a 20-MW solar photovoltaic facility located in Clark County, Nev., within the Nevada Power balancing authority area. All of the output will be committed to Nevada Power under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The Mountain View facility, has been expected to be in-service in November and interconnects to Nevada Power inside of the existing Gypsum 138-kV Substation.

Mountain View Solar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ESI Energy LLC, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE). Mountain View Solar is affiliated with NextEra Resources LLC, which owns and operates approximately 17,000 MW across the United States and Canada.
