Maine Senator asks FERC for stable ROEs for transmission

Saying that FERC “must create more certainty for both ratepayers and investors,” Senator Angus King (Ind-Maine), on Oct. 29 sent a letter to FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff requesting stable returns on equity (ROE).

“I am writing to urge you, as the Commission examines reformulating its approach for establishing permitted ROEs, to consider providing a more certain regulatory environment for utilities and other companies pursuing transmission investments,” King said. “This means not changing a relevant ROE while a project is underway, or has been completed. This is critical in moving toward a clean energy future.”
