Six high-voltage transmission projects were energized in late June and early July.
Three were Oncor Electric-sponsored Texas CREZ projects. These projects totaled 313 miles of 345-kV line at an estimated cost of nearly $527m. The new line additions also included NSTAR Electric‘s Lower SEMA project in Massachusetts ($106m), the Manor to Graceton PPL-sponsored 230-kV line in Pennsylvania ($22.7m) and the Genoa to La Crosse Dairyland Power-sponsored line in Wisconsin ($22.5m).
There were 14 new project announcements in July, including the Atlantic Grid Holdings Garden State Reliability Project, a $1bn, 60-mile 500-kV line.
Other notable annoucements include PEPCO Holdings’ PB-S line scheduled to be complete in 2018, First Energy‘s Homer city to Handsome Lake 345-kV project, scheduled for completion in late 2014, and Manitoba Hydro‘s Manitoba to Minnesota Transmission Project, scheduled for completion in 2020.
Other news of interest includes changes in the cost estimates of two BC Hydro projects. The Vancouver City Central project scheduled for 2014 is estimated to cost C$201m, up from C$173m, and the Dawson Creek to Chetwynd Area project, estimated at C$255m, a decrease from C$300m.
In addition, the Maritime Trasmission Project (C$1.2bn) recieved approval from the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board.
