Braidwood Unit 2 Returns to Service

BRACEVILLE, Ill. – Operators at Exelon’s Braidwood Generating Station returned Unit 2 to full power at approximately 11:30 a.m. CT on Sunday, July 7.

The unit was returned to service on Friday, July 5, following planned maintenance on a pair of water pumps. This type of maintenance can only be performed when the unit is not operating.

Braidwood Generating Station is approximately 60 miles southwest of Chicago. The station’s two nuclear energy units can produce a total of more than 2,300 megawatts at full power – enough electricity to power more than 2 million typical homes.
