White House carbon policy expected June 25

President Obama is expected to announce a plan June 25 to use some of his executive powers to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that contribute to climate change The Washington Post reported June 23.

Obama is expected to announce a plan to address CO2 emissions from existing power plants, promote renewable energy projects on federal land and improve appliance efficiency.

The EPA has regulations in the pipeline that would set CO2 emission standards for new power plants and there has increasingly been talk of addressing greenhouse emissions from the existing fleet.
