SWEPCO issues RFP for 200 MW of capacity, energy

American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) subsidiary Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) has issued a request for proposals to supply up to 200 MW of capacity and associated energy and ancillary services for a term of three to five years beginning June 1, 2016.

Proposals are due Jan. 17, 2013. Capacity in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) markets will be considered, AEP said.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled Dec. 19. Bidders should file a notice of intent to respond by Dec. 21. AEP expects to notify a short-list of leading bidders Feb. 22. Selection of preferred bidders and contract signing is targeted for April 8, 2013.
