Pepco, union still negotiating, declare media blackout

Pepco and the union representing its workers met Friday for the first time since its final contract offer was rejected by the employees.

The utility and the union, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1900, said they are resuming negotiations, which will be led by a federal mediator. At a meeting Friday in Pepco’s headquarters in the District, both sides also declared a media blackout to “see if that will help us reach an agreement,” said union president James A. Griffin.
