OPSB sets public hearing for transmission line in Vinton and Jackson counties

COLUMBUS, OHIO (Oct. 24, 2012) – The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a public hearing in McArthur, Ohio to provide area residents an opportunity to testify about AEP Transmission Company’s (AEP Transco) proposal to construct the 138 kilovolt (kV) Elk Transmission project.

Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Vinton County Community Building 31935 State Route 93 McArthur, Ohio 45651

The Elk Transmission project includes a proposed 138 kV Elk transmission line loop, replacing existing distribution lines with transmission lines.   AEP Transco has submitted a preferred and alternate route for the Board’s consideration.  The preferred route is approximately 17 miles long and extends from Vinton County into Jackson County. The alternate route is 16 miles long, ending within Vinton County.  Both routes loop with the existing Poston-Lick 138kV line including the Elk distribution substation in Vinton County. The adjudicatory hearing in this case will begin on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, 180 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215-3793.
