Power line project will encircle Green Valley

The final phase of a plan to encircle Green Valley and Sahuarita with power lines that would provide a back-up electrical supply for residential customers was detailed at a homeowner meeting Tuesday.

The plan, approved by the state’s Sighting Committee in 1995, will be complete after the last stretch of about four miles is upgraded with a 138-kilovolt Tucson Electric Power line extending from the Canoa Ranch Substation to the Cyprus Sierrita Substation west of Duval Mine.
