The city of New Lisbon on Monday became the latest Juneau County municipality to oppose some possible routes for a new power transmission line.
The city’s Common Council voted unanimously to oppose two plans to route the proposed power line along Interstate 90-94 and the Canadian Pacific railway tracks near the city.
“These aren’t just poles, these are structures that would take a lot of space out of an area we hope to develop,” Mayor Lloyd Chase said.
City Administrator Ed Kaelin said the potential routes could hamper development in New Lisbon’s two industrial growth areas and would also affect wetlands in the area.
