John R. Bear, President and CEO of MISO, issued the following statement regarding Entergy Texas’ filing with the Public Utility Commission of Texas:
“Today’s filing by Entergy Texas is another important step in allowing customers across the Entergy region to receive the benefits of the MISO market. Those benefits are clear – lower costs and improved reliability.
“We will file testimony supporting Entergy’s choice to join MISO in the near future, and we will work with the Texas Commission to provide any additional information they require to make a decision.”
Two weeks ago, FERC approved MISO’s proposal to apply a fair and equitable cost allocation for transmission projects upon Entergy’s planned integration into MISO. This decision ensures that customers in the Entergy region will pay only for transmission projects that benefit them, and current MISO customers will continue to pay for projects that benefit their region.
Bear noted that, “FERC’s decision helps to ensure a fair allocation of transmission costs for existing customers within MISO and new customers in the Entergy area. It provides additional certainty and strengthens the case for Entergy to join MISO.”
