Ameren will hold a series of open houses to educate the public on its plans for a new 345,000-volt Illinois Rivers electric transmission line.
Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois proposes to build the line from West Adair, Mo., to Sugar Creek, Ind. It will be about 330 miles long with a 41-mile line between Meredosia and Ipava and an isolated 28-mile line to link the Rising and Sidney substations in the Champaign area.
The first open house is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elks Lodge, 205 E. Second St. in Beardstown. The second is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Meredosia-Chambersburg High School, 830 Main St. in Meredosia.
