Pottstown, PA – Limerick generating station unit 1 returned to full power at about 2 a.m. EDT yesterday following repairs to an electrical system on the non-nuclear side of the plant.
Limerick unit 1 was manually taken offline by operators on April 19 when an electrical malfunction caused the plant’s generator cooling pump to shut down.
There was no risk to the public and no injuries associated with the event.
Limerick generating station is 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for about 2 million homes.
