Texas-based VHGI Holdings (OTC.QB: VHGI) said March 1 that wholly owned subsidiary VHGI Coal has added to its management team by appointing coal veteran Ron Hutchcraft as Executive Vice President of the recently-acquired Lily Group’s Landree mine in Indiana
“This is an important step in the execution of our business plan,” said Doug Martin, CEO of VHGI. “After having closed this transaction, we immediately focused our attention on ensuring that we had the highest quality of people managing this project who are not only familiar with the quality of coal from this unique deposit, but with all aspects of mining in these conditions.”
Hutchcraft has over 25 years of experience in the Midwest in both underground and surface coal mining. Hutchcraft has served as the Director of Midwest Operations for Headwaters Energy Services, the Vice President of Indiana operations for Horizon Natural Resources and AEI Resources, and the General Manager for Beech Coal Co.’s Sycamore mine.
Hutchcraft joins two other coal mining veterans on Lily Group’s management team, Ron Pickering, VP Engineering, and Dave Smith, Mine Superintendent.
VHGI recently acquired Lily Group and its in-development Landree deep mine in Greene County, Ind. The mine was registered in April 2010 under the name Lily Group with the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration. The MSHA database shows the operation as still in a “nonproducing” status as of March 1.
