Texas High Court finds Entergy liable for power line injuries

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday reversed a lower court decision that Entergy Gulf States Inc. was not negligent in the injury of a moving company employee shocked by a power line, ruling the company violated state law by operating an active power line less than 22 feet above ground.

Entergy had argued that the 22-foot height requirement was not valid because the line in question was a distribution line rather than a transmission line, and the Texas court of appeals agreed.
