Susquehanna-Roseland power line opponents pushing online petition

An online petition drive today urges President Barack Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to reject a power line route across the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Several regional environmental groups are spearheading the effort by directing people to visit to sign the petition. People also are urged to share the petition on their Facebook pages and Twitter.

The 147-mile Susquehanna-Roseland transmission line project from Berwick to Roseland, N.J., has received procedural approval from utility regulators in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. But PPL Electric Utilities and Public Service Electric & Gas must gain National Park Service approval to cross the park, Delaware River and Appalachian Trail.
