Susquehanna-Roseland power line opponents pushing online petition

An online petition drive today urges President Barack Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to reject a power line route across the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Several regional environmental groups are spearheading the effort by directing people to visit chn.ge/noSRxline to sign the petition. People also are urged to share the petition on their Facebook pages and Twitter.

The 147-mile Susquehanna-Roseland transmission line project from Berwick to Roseland, N.J., has received procedural approval from utility regulators in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. But PPL Electric Utilities and Public Service Electric & Gas must gain National Park Service approval to cross the park, Delaware River and Appalachian Trail.
