Patriot Coal promotes Elkins to materials v.p.

St. Louis-based Patriot Coal (NYSE:PCX), a major coal producer in West Virginia and western Kentucky, announced March 8 that C. Wayne Elkins has been promoted to Vice President-Materials Management.

Elkins will report to Mark Schroeder, Senior Vice President and CFO. Elkins has more than 35 years of experience with the company and has held various leadership positions in supply chain and materials management. Notable is that this would date back to before Patriot’s spin-off a few years ago from Peabody Energy (NYSE:BTU).

Reporting to Elkins will be: Jackie Douglas, Manager-Materials; Barry Harvey, Manager-Purchasing; Marilyn Perry, Senior Manager-Purchasing; Charles Stewart, Manager-Materials; and Kirby Totten, Senior Manager-Materials. Elkins will be based in the company’s Charleston, W.Va., office.
