Uncertainty surrounds a proposed high-voltage power line between Alma and Holmen with the deadline for public input looming.
Today is the deadline for written comments on the Wisconsin leg of a 345-kilovolt transmission line designed to connect the Twin Cities, Rochester and La Crosse.
The Wisconsin Public Service Commission, which must approve the project, will hold hearings next week in Alma and Centerville. These will be the last chance for the public to weigh in.
It’s part of a regional infrastructure project known as CapX2020, a collaboration by utilities in Minnesota, the Dakotas, Iowa and Wisconsin including Xcel Energy and La Crosse-based Dairyland Power Cooperative. A similar project dubbed the Badger Coulee line is in the works to connect that line to the Madison area.
