B&W unit gets O&M contract for 50-MW Pa. power plant

On March 22, Babcock & Wilcox Co. (NYSE: BWC) said its Power Systems Operations Inc. subsidiary has received a 10-year contract, $40 million contract to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for Ebensburg Power Co.’s 50-MW coal-fired power plant in Ebensburg, Pa.

Power Systems Operations has provided O&M services at the plant since it began commercial operation in May 1991.

“Power Systems Operations has successfully operated this plant for the last two decades, a track record that has led to this 10-year extension,” Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group Inc. President and COO Richard L. Killion said.

Ebensburg Power is a joint venture between subsidiaries of B&W and ESI Energy Inc. The co-generation plant burns waste coal from mining refuse piles to produce steam and electricity.
