Anti-MATL lawyer running for seat on Supreme Court

Hertha Lund, a Bozeman lawyer who represented landowners in their battle against the eminent domain claims of a major power transmission line project, has filed to run for the Montana Supreme Court against incumbent Associate Justice Brian Morris.

Lund has practiced law for about 20 years, focusing on issues including agriculture, natural resources, environmental policy, property rights, water rights and wind energy, according to the Owner’s Counsel of America, a group representing property owners against eminent domain claims.

Recently, she represented Montana landowners in suits against the Montana-Alberta Tie Line, which sought to put transmission lines across private property in northcentral Montana.
